Retired IAS officer Subodh Agarwal has voluntarily appeared before the Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Delhi, indicating his readiness to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
According to his legal counsel, Amit Kaviya, a formal intimation was sent to the ACB confirming that Mr. Agarwal would present himself before the investigating officer. The communication clearly stated that his appearance was voluntary and aimed at extending full cooperation in the probe, reflecting his intent to support the legal process.
Despite earlier challenges faced by authorities in contacting him over the past few weeks, his decision to come forward is being seen as a responsible and constructive step toward ensuring transparency in the matter.
The case is linked to contracts awarded under the Jal Jeevan Mission, involving two firms and project allocations estimated at around ₹960 crore. Investigators are currently reviewing procedural aspects, particularly the submission and verification of work completion certificates.
A 1988-batch IAS officer, Mr. Agarwal retired on December 31, 2025, after a long tenure in public service. During his career, he held several senior positions, including Additional Chief Secretary in the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED).
Authorities have already taken action against multiple individuals associated with the case, and the investigation continues in accordance with established legal procedures.
Launched in 2019, the Jal Jeevan Mission is a flagship initiative of the Government of India focused on providing functional tap water connections to rural households, significantly improving access to safe drinking water across India.
